State ParkAbout Upper Sioux Agency State Park
Upper Sioux Agency State Park preserves the site of a federal agency destroyed in the 1862 Dakota War, including the grave of Chief Walking Iron Mazomani, on the Minnesota River south of Granite Falls. Considered sacred by the Upper Sioux Community as a place where ancestors starved, the land was ceremonially returned to the tribe. The park, established 1963, closed to the public in February 2024.
