About Lac qui Parle State Park

Lac qui Parle State Park sits near Watson on Lac qui Parle, a widening of the Minnesota River whose name translates the Dakota "Mde Iyedan," or "lake that speaks." The park was built as part of a Depression-era flood control project that included a WPA-built dam, and three of its structures are on the National Register of Historic Places.
