About Fort Ridgely State Park

Fort Ridgely State Park preserves the site of Fort Ridgely, where the 1862 Battle of Fort Ridgely was fought during the Dakota War, on the Minnesota River south of Fairfax. Established in 1911, its Civilian Conservation Corps buildings from the mid-1930s are on the National Register of Historic Places. Its nine-hole golf course, once the only one in a Minnesota state park, closed in 2016.
