Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 15, 2026
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains how SPLITT ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar browser storage (such as localStorage) on our platform, what they do, and the choices you have. It works together with our Privacy Policy.
2. Essential storage (always on)
These are required for the Service to function and cannot be switched off:
- Authentication: keeps you signed in to your account (session tokens).
- Security: protects against fraud and abuse (e.g. rate-limiting context).
- Preferences: remembers functional choices such as your currency and your cookie-consent decision itself.
3. Analytics (only with your consent)
With your permission, we measure how SPLITT is used so we can improve it. None of this runs until you choose "Accept all", or switch Analytics on under "Preferences", in the consent banner:
- First-party analytics: page views, searches, and interactions, sent to our own servers with an anonymous session identifier stored in your browser. We do not sell this data or share it with advertisers.
- Third-party analytics: if enabled, privacy-focused services (such as Plausible) or Google Analytics 4 (with IP anonymization). These load only after you opt in.
- Marketing email measurement: if you receive marketing email from us, we measure whether it was opened, whether you clicked a link in it, and whether that click reached the Splitt site, tied to your account rather than anonymously. Open and click tracking happens in the email itself and does not depend on this cookie choice; unsubscribing from marketing email stops it. See Privacy Policy §5.1.
4. Personalization (only with your consent)
With your separate permission, we use your browsing activity, beyond your bookings and saved trips, to personalize gear recommendations and send reminders like "still thinking it over?". This category only runs after you choose "Accept all", or switch Personalization on under "Preferences", in the consent banner, and can also be managed from the email preferences page. Choosing analytics alone does not enable personalization.
5. Payments
Payment pages use Stripe, our payment processor. Stripe may set its own cookies that are essential for secure checkout and fraud prevention. See Stripe's privacy documentation for details.
6. Managing your preferences
You can change your decision at any time. Your choice is remembered and applies until you change it or clear your browser storage:
You can also clear or block storage entirely in your browser settings, though essential features such as staying signed in may stop working.
