Our story
Premium outdoor gear is expensive, bulky to store, and used a handful of weekends a year. Meanwhile, every neighborhood has garages full of ATVs, jet skis, e-bikes, kayaks, and camping equipment sitting idle. SPLITT exists to connect those two facts: a rental marketplace where owners earn from gear they already have, and adventurers get the right equipment for a fraction of the cost of buying it.
We started with rental businesses and local owners in Minneapolis and are building toward a nationwide community where renting premium gear is as easy — and as trusted — as booking a place to stay.
How SPLITT works
1. Browse
Search gear near you and filter by category, price, and dates — or describe your trip and let our AI trip planner build the packing list.
2. Book
Reserve your dates with secure checkout, choose a protection plan, and sign any required waivers digitally before pickup.
3. Adventure
Meet the owner, verify the handoff with a QR check-in, enjoy your trip, and return the gear. Reviews keep the community trustworthy.

Verified identities
Owners and renters complete identity verification, and listings are screened by automated moderation before they go live.
Protection plans
Basic, Standard, and Premier plans cover accidental damage during the rental, alongside refundable security deposits set by owners.
Secure payments
Every transaction runs through Stripe — funds are held securely and owners are paid out automatically after each completed rental.
Two-sided reviews
Renters and owners review each other after every rental, so reputation is earned and visible across the marketplace.
