About Myre-Big Island State Park

Myre-Big Island State Park, just outside Albert Lea, protects eight miles of shoreline on Albert Lea Lake around its namesake Big Island, a 117-acre island reached by causeway that in turn connects to Little Island. The park was formerly named Helmer Myre State Park after the Minnesota state senator.
