Whitewater State Park protects a stretch of the Whitewater River beneath rocky bluffs in Winona County's blufflands, seven miles north of St. Charles on Highway 74, which runs through the park. The 2,700-acre park draws about 300,000 visitors a year for its scenic overlooks and trout fishing on the spring-fed Whitewater River and Trout Run Creek.
