Judge C. R. Magney State Park on Lake Superior's North Shore is named for Clarence R. Magney, a former Duluth mayor and state supreme court justice who helped establish eleven North Shore parks and waysides. The park is best known for the Devil's Kettle, where half of the Brule River vanishes into a rock pothole and resurfaces underground farther downstream.
