About Grand Portage State Park

Grand Portage State Park sits at Minnesota's northeastern tip on the Canada–US border, where the Pigeon River's 120-foot High Falls, the tallest waterfall in the state, forced fur traders onto a historic portage preserved nearby at Grand Portage National Monument. Leased from the Grand Portage Indian Reservation for $1 a year, it's the only U.S. state park run jointly by a state and tribal band.
