Tettegouche State Park lies on Lake Superior's North Shore about 58 miles northeast of Duluth, named for the Tettegouche Club of businessmen who bought the land from the Alger-Smith Lumber Company in 1910. In 1979, the state acquired 3,400 acres including Tettegouche Camp from the Nature Conservancy and renamed the combined park Tettegouche.
